Martine Hansen presents Consumer Protection Awards at the mini-enterprises final

As part of the final round of the mini-enterprise competition, the Minister for Consumer Protection, Martine Hansen, had the pleasure of presenting two awards granted by the Directorate for Consumer Protection. These awards aim to highlight innovative projects that place consumer protection and responsible consumption at the heart of their entrepreneurial approach.

The “Consumer Protection Award” was presented to the mini-enterprise LeftLovers, from Lycée Aline-Mayrisch. This original project offers an online platform that allows local merchants to sell their unsold products at discounted prices in the form of “surprise bags.” The initiative is doubly beneficial, helping to combat food waste while giving consumers access to quality products at lower prices. The website they developed is particularly well-designed, incorporating General Terms and Conditions of Sale (GTC) and a privacy policy, demonstrating a strong commitment to consumer rights.

The “Responsible Consumption Award” went to Sorbäh, a mini-enterprise from Maacher Lycée. Sorbäh produces and sells three types of vegan sorbets made from surplus fruit that would otherwise be discarded due to cosmetic imperfections - actively contributing to the fight against food waste. The project stands out for its local sourcing, reduced transport distances, and its educational mission to promote more conscious and responsible consumption.

These two projects brilliantly reflect the commitment, creativity, and social awareness of young Luxembourgish entrepreneurs. Warm congratulations to the award winners for their exemplary work, and to the organisers of JEL (Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg), who continue to provide an invaluable platform for tomorrow’s responsible initiatives.
