Martine Hansen visits the repair café in Mertzig
Minister for Consumer Protection discusses challenges and solutions for promoting more responsible consumption.
Martine Hansen, Minister for Consumer Protection, visited the repair café in Mertzig on July 20th. After being welcomed by a delegation from the Mertzig municipal council, she engaged in an in-depth discussion with the repairers to understand the challenges faced by repair cafés and explore possible solutions. The discussions highlighted issues such as the shortage of spare parts and the need for increased public awareness about the importance of repair.
With this visit, the minister aimed to show her support for these initiatives, which are much more than mere repair venues. By extending the life of our objects, repair cafés not only help reduce waste but also promote more responsible consumption. These spaces also foster cooperation and the sharing of technical knowledge among citizens.
Repair cafés play a crucial role in raising awareness about environmental and economic issues related to consumption. They provide a space where individuals can learn to repair their belongings, contributing to a significant reduction in electronic waste and a better use of resources.
The minister took the opportunity to thank the organizers and repairers for their commitment and dedication.
